Jackson Voice Studio

Privacy Policy

Last updated 27 August 2026

Jackson Voice Studio — Daniel Jackson, sole proprietor, Folsom, California — is responsible for the information described here. This policy covers the information the studio holds about students and their parents or guardians, and the information handled by this site, which is the studio's scheduling, messaging and billing system. It does not cover the studio's own business accounts with its suppliers.

What we collect

  • Registration details — student first and last name, parent or guardian name, phone numbers, email addresses, postal address and the student's birthday.
  • Studio notes — free-text notes the studio keeps on your account, such as what a lesson covered or how you prefer to be contacted.
  • Lesson records — scheduled lessons, attendance, cancellations and missed lessons.
  • Billing records — lesson charges, payments, credits, your current balance, and any payment you tell us about yourself through your statement page.
  • Messages — the text messages you exchange with the studio, including their content and delivery status.

We do not collect payment card numbers. Card and bank details are entered on PayPal's own pages and are never sent to, or stored by, this site.

This site runs no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking, and it sets no cookies for those purposes.

Why we use it

  • To schedule lessons and send reminders and scheduling messages.
  • To bill lessons, record payments and show you an accurate balance.
  • To answer you when you contact the studio.
  • To send studio news and marketing texts, which you can stop at any time.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Where artificial intelligence is used

The studio uses OpenAI in four places, and each one sends it different information.

  • Your incoming texts. When you text the studio, the content of your message is sent to OpenAI, which says what the message is about — scheduling, a cancellation, a payment or something general. The studio uses that answer to decide whether to pause its automated messages so a person can reply instead. Messages you sent earlier, up to about three months back, can be sent again the same way when the studio works out who to follow up with.
  • Messages the studio sends you. Reminder and follow-up texts are written by OpenAI rather than typed by a person. To write one, the studio sends your first name, how long it has been since your last lesson, and — where that reminder is set up to mention it — your current balance and your next appointment.
  • The studio's assistant. Daniel can ask an assistant built into this site questions about the business. Answering them can send your client record, your lesson history and your transactions to OpenAI, and the assistant can draft messages and record changes from what comes back.
  • Importing files. When the studio imports a list of clients, transactions or calendar events from a file, the rows are sent to OpenAI to be read into a consistent shape before they are saved. Those rows contain the same details listed above, including names, contact details, addresses, notes and payment amounts.

None of this is used to advertise to you. Some of it is automatic: a reminder or follow-up text can be written by OpenAI and sent to you without a person reading it first, and the decision about whether to send you one at all can be made the same way. Anything you reply is read by a person.

Your statement link

Each student has a permanent statement link. It has no login. Opening it asks for the last four digits of the phone number the studio messages you on, and a successful answer sets a cookie in your browser that keeps that one statement open. The cookie is strictly necessary for the page to work, is limited to your own statement, and is not used for tracking. Treat the link as private: anyone who has both the link and those four digits can see your statement.

Who else handles your information

These companies process information on the studio's behalf, and only for the studio:

  • Supabase — stores the studio's database and operator accounts.
  • Heroku — hosts this site.
  • Twilio — sends and receives the studio's text messages.
  • OpenAI — reads your messages, client records and imported files, and writes the studio's reminder texts, as described above.
  • PayPal — takes payments, under PayPal's own privacy policy.

We also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the studio's rights.

Students under 18

A parent or guardian registers any student under 18 and provides their details. We collect only what registration, scheduling and billing need, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from a child without a parent or guardian doing so. A parent or guardian may review, correct or ask us to delete their child's information using the contact details below.

How long we keep it

Lesson and payment records are kept while you are a student and afterwards for as long as the studio needs them for its accounts and tax records. Messages are kept as part of the studio's record of its conversation with you. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will do so except where we must keep a record.

Keeping it safe

Traffic to this site is encrypted. Studio records are held in a database where each account can reach only its own rows, and access is limited to Daniel Jackson and the coaches who need it. No system is perfect, but this is what we do.

Your choices and rights

You may ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email Dan@jacksonvoice.com and allow 48 hours for a reply. You will not be treated differently for asking.

To stop text messages, reply STOP to any message from the studio. Reply HELP for help. Stopping marketing texts does not stop the studio contacting you about a lesson you have booked.

California residents: the studio does not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed, and the version published here is the one that applies.
